Medior / Senior Test Engineer
We are looking for a tester with a clear approach and critical eye when it comes to our software. You will be responsible for the design and execution of test plans. In addition, you take ownership of continuously improving our testing approach, with a strong focus on test automation and smarter, more efficient workflows.

Key about your role
As a Software Tester within a Scrum team, you help the team deliver reliable software that is fit for customer use. You define and apply an effective test approach for epics and stories based on their risks and impact. Together with software engineers, business analysts and the Product Owner, you make quality an explicit consideration from refinement through release.
You design, review and execute manual and automated tests (We use Playwright). You assess test coverage across the relevant testing levels and consider integration, performance and security testing when appropriate. You identify edge cases early, challenge assumptions in requirements and solution designs, and translate test results into clear, actionable quality information.
When defects or test failures occur, you ensure they are clearly documented, analysed and followed up. You help determine whether the right response is a test fix, a product fix or explicit risk acceptance. For larger epics and cross-team work, you maintain oversight of the overall test effort and guide colleagues who contribute to it.
We also embrace AI-assisted testing as part of our development lifecycle. Our engineers use tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Codex to explore requirements and risks, develop test scenarios, support test automation, analyse failures and document findings. AI is an aid, not a substitute for professional judgement. You are expected to understand and validate its output and remain accountable for the quality, security and correctness of your work.
As part of a community of fellow testers, you keep developing your knowledge of testing techniques, tools, automation and the insurance domain. You share what you learn, contribute to testing standards and help the team treat quality as a shared responsibility.

Key about you
- You are passionate about software quality and bring a critical, analytical and risk-aware mindset to complex business processes.
- You have a bachelor’s degree or higher and substantial experience testing large, business-critical software systems.
- You can define a risk-based test approach and design, review and execute high-quality manual and automated tests.
- You understand test coverage across different testing levels and know when integration, regression, performance or security testing is needed.
- You contribute to acceptance criteria, challenge requirements and solution designs, and identify edge cases early in the development lifecycle.
- You can identify, reproduce and clearly report defects and vulnerabilities, verify fixes, and analyse the root causes of failing tests.
- You take ownership of improving test automation, testing workflows and quality standards, including their integration into CI/CD practices.
- You have experience writing automated end-to-end tests using Playwright or similar technology.
- You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders, work effectively across teams, and guide colleagues in recognising and addressing quality risks.
- You understand Agile ways of working, organise your work independently, and can maintain oversight of the testing effort for larger or cross-team initiatives.
It is a plus if you have experience with the insurance industry, data modelling, SQL or databases such as DB2 and PostgreSQL.
Using AI
- You are interested in using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Codex as part of the software development lifecycle. For example, to explore solutions, understand unfamiliar code, generate or improve code and tests, refactoring, troubleshoot issues, document solutions and support code reviews;
- You understand that AI-generated code and suggestions must be critically evaluated, tested and reviewed. You take ownership of the quality, security, correctness and maintainability of the code you deliver;
- It’s a plus if you have experience with or interest in CI/CD (TeamCity, Bash, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Chef, etc.) and in integrating AI-assisted development into these practices.
