Chidozie working as a Software Developer at Keylane

Meet Chidozie

Fortunately, that’s not the only thing he’s known for. As a Software Engineer in our Product Development team, Chidozie combines that same positivity with strong technical expertise, helping to build the software that insurers rely on every day.

Originally from Nigeria, Chidozie moved to the Netherlands in 2019. Keylane became his first employer in the country, and more than five years later he still enjoys the combination of technical challenges, autonomy and a supportive team.

What do you most enjoy about your role at Keylane?

One of the things I value most is the level of autonomy I have in my work. As a Software Engineer, I’m trusted to take ownership rather than being micromanaged.

From the moment customer requirements arrive until new functionality is delivered, I’m involved throughout the entire development process. That gives me a real sense of ownership, because you can see the direct impact of what you’re building.

Being trusted to solve problems and contribute throughout the process is something I genuinely enjoy every day.

How does your role as a Software Developer help deliver customer solutions?

Our team builds the functionality that supports insurers throughout the lifecycle of an insurance policy.

That includes everything from renewals and suspensions to adding or removing policy features. We also develop the interfaces that allow our platform to exchange data reliably with external systems, whether that’s supporting new regulations or integrating with third-party services.

I’m right in the middle of that process. If you compare it to constructing a building, the foundations are already there before the work reaches my team. We build the main structure and turn those foundations into solutions that customers use every day.

I’m proud to be part of the team that delivers those capabilities to our customers.

Why would you recommend Keylane to potential applicants?

The company culture is one of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed at Keylane.

We have a diverse group of colleagues, which means you’re constantly exposed to different perspectives and ideas. That leads to interesting conversations and helps you grow, both professionally and personally.

I also really appreciate the healthy work-life balance. There’s no expectation that people should constantly work excessive hours. Instead, you’re trusted to do your job well.

That trust gives you the freedom to think through solutions, improve your skills and keep learning. There’s never a dull moment because there’s always something interesting to work on.

Can you tell us a bit about your hobbies?

Reading has always been my biggest hobby.

I’m especially interested in novels that explore dystopian worlds or the human experience. Authors like Franz Kafka are among my favourites, and I still enjoy reading physical books whenever I can.

Outside of reading, football plays a big role in my life. I’m an Arsenal supporter, I play amateur football myself and I enjoy watching the game whenever I get the chance. Every now and then I also like going for a run.

I’m proud to be part of the team that delivers those capabilities to our customers.

What is the best thing that happened to you in the last year?

Without a doubt, the birth of our second child. He’s now eight months old, healthy and full of energy. Becoming a father of two has been the highlight of my year.

Coming home after work and spending time with my children is something I genuinely look forward to every day.
