My name is Romy and I work as a Consultant within a productdesign team within Delivery Non-Life in Utrecht.
This means that I work on the design of our software package for customers. I spend most of my time on a project for our client Unigarant. Here I primarily fulfill the role of a consultant.
Just another day…
Unigarant itself has a Product Design team and does most of the software implementation itself. They have their own functional designers, technical designers and product designers. We support them. Sometimes they outsource some things to us, but in general they call me with questions if they can not figure it out themselves or if they have questions about our system.
Sometimes they have an idea about how they want to use the software and ask me if that is possible. I also advise them in the field of product design when they switch to a new version of the software; what is going to change, what needs to be adapted and what might be interesting for them?
… at the office of the client
Once a month I visit them in Hoogeveen to work on location. This is very pleasant for the customer, making asking questions a lot easier.
The day started early from Den Bosch, where I live. From Utrecht my team leader Sjoerd came to accompany me on the train. To make good use of the time, we did some work on the way.
When we arrive at the office, it is always very pleasant. In that respect, Unigarant is a bit like Keylane: informal and collegian.
We know them quite well, so we always like to chat for a while and then everyone goes to work. People will come to see me during the day: “Hey Romy, can you take a look at this? I have a bug that I can’t figure out, can you help me? ”
“PEOPLE WILL COME TO SEE ME DURING THE DAY: HEY ROMY, CAN YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THIS? I HAVE A BUG I CAN’T FIGURE OUT.”
In between, we also held a planning meeting with the team leader of Unigarant’s product design team. In such a consultation we discuss their planning for the coming months and we see if there are still things that we need to arrange. Sometimes they have things that require more commitment from us. Then Sjoerd will ensure that enough colleagues are available. We also discuss substantive matters; what bugs are there now, are we going to finish it in time?
In short, a day that was completely dedicated to the customer!
