Do you want to specialise in a specific part of our software and work on long programming tasks or are you the generalist who is great at solving problems, who can switch quickly and also likes to have customer contact? In both roles you can challenge yourself as a software engineer at Keylane. This can be done within different departments: Product Development, Delivery non-Life and Life & Pension or Data Conversion.
Extending your role can be done by acting as a mentor to new employees, making logic program designs for new functionality, conducting SQL query optimisations and working with the Learning & Development department to improve our courses.
Jasper Clarijs – Software Engineer
“Last year I spent two months in Kolkata to supervise external developers.”
Roel Duits – Software Engineer
“We are fully engaged in the technical field of automated testing and making it possible to deliver our product more frequently to the client.”
Within Product Development, we are working on our generic software solution. Here we design new functionalities that are interesting for all our customers. Our Product Development department is divided into three large teams of approximately 25-35 colleagues. Each team has its own expertise in the field of claims, policy administration or financial functionality. The teams are multidisciplinary and consist of functional designers, software engineers and testers. The teams are again split up into small groups allowing our colleagues to focus on their expertise.
Our Delivery department consist of client teams and are spread over different offices in the Netherlands and Europe. The customer teams work on the design of our client software package. In doing so, they work directly with the customer, including the users, marketers, IT customers of the customer and partner companies of the customer.
A team has 4 to 8 members and consists consultants, software engineers and a team lead. When it comes to growth you can take the technical path (software architect) or you can become a team lead and project manager. In the first year of your career at Keylane you will be guided by a mentor (experienced software engineer from your team).
Our data conversion team is located in Utrecht and is engaged in the export of data migrations from different customers. They convert the databases of the customer to our own database. As a software engineer you build the software in Java that ensures that the old policies are neatly placed in the new system. We also work a lot with SQL to query the databases. The difficulty of the work varies, so that keeps it challenging and gives satisfaction. We do a lot of test conversions, so you have direct feedback on your work. Projects last for about 6 months to a year. The team consists of consultants, software engineers, testers and a team leader.
